We will be joined by Historian of UK Parliament, Dr Mari Takayanagi, who will share a brief history of women in the House of Lords. Using real parliamentary artefacts, Mari will reflect on the vital contributions that women, past and present, have made to the work of the House.

We will then be joined by The Lord Bishop of Gloucester (Bishop Rachel) and Baroness Boycott.

Both Peers represent groups that are unique to the House of Lords, Bishops and Crossbenchers, and both are also trailblazing women within their professions.

Both will share their experiences by answering your questions!

It has been an ambassador for the UK and the UK Parliament in Berlin (Bundestag), the Czech Republic (St Vitus Cathedral), Italy (Tuscan Festival) and France (Notre Dame de Paris) and The Vatican.

Behind the Scenes with the Official Report

Standard

During the February recess, the Official Report (Hansard) is offering Members’ staff an opportunity to learn how parliamentary proceedings are edited in the Official Report.

Spend an hour and a half with us and find out:

  • How Hansard reports MPs’ speeches
  • Which debates are read the most by constituents and how to share parliamentary contributions online
  • Who to contact with queries about the Official Report and where to read speeches before publication

We finish with a tour of the Hansard offices and the Press Gallery.

We will be holding in-person sessions on the parliamentary estate on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th February. Priority will be given to new Members’ staff, but all are welcome.

For more information, to book a place or to join Hansard’s mailing list for future sessions, contact hansardoutreach@parliament.uk

Please click here to complete the survey.

The more people who respond to the survey, the greater the representative nature of the results, but please remember you are under no pressure to participate and you may change your mind about taking part.
