Imperial College London’s Professor Nick Jennings invites you to a special event to launch The Forum, Imperial’s new policy engagement programme. The Forum brings Imperial’s community and policy-makers together to discuss, debate and discover new thinking on policy challenges.

Sir Patrick Vallance, the Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser, will speak about the importance of academia and government working together to solve policy challenges across a range of issues. Sir Patrick will then be joined by Professor Nick Jennings for an audience Q&A.

This will be followed by a networking reception with guests from Westminster, government departments and industry. Drinks and canapés will be served.

Essential Training for Members and Their Staff – Please help us test it before launch

The new content replaces the existing need for the individual courses and instead wraps all essential training into one package.

We are looking for you to test whether this module is ‘user friendly’ ‘easy to complete’ and ‘and achievable from a time perspective’

Your feedback is really important – your assistance will mean that when we launch, you will already be compliant for the year ahead.

We are planning to test on 4-6 June and 10 June.

A team of 10 staff, the Information and Records Management Service (IRMS) develops, advises on and implements information management (IM) policies and practices for the end-to-end management of current business information. They also identify information with historical value and make sure it gets transferred into the safe custody of the Parliamentary Archives, where it will become the archives of the future.

Register of Interests

We have updated our guide to when you need to register an interest. Holders of photo-identity passes as Members’ secretaries or research assistants are required to complete a Registration Form on which they are asked to list certain financial interests they may have.

Essential Writing Skills for Members’ staff

The course will cover the principles of good written communication and how to put them into practice. It will look at some essentials about the use of language, grammar, tone and writing style and will include an introduction to the ‘Plain English’ approach to business writing.
