Labour Staff Environmental Network

Page

The Labour Staff Environmental Network is an informal group for Labour staffers who are interested in climate and environmental issues, both sustainability on the estate (and in constituencies!) and policy in general.

The Network is open to all Labour staffers in Parliament and the constituencies.

For information about our meet ups etc. you can join our WhatsApp group

To join, please email from your parliamentary network account to both [email protected] and [email protected], stating your full name, the name of the MP you work for and, of course, your mobile phone number.

Their next event will be:

Housing while still giving nature a home?

Time: 17:30 – 18:30
Date: Tuesday 10 June 2025
Location: House of Commons
Open to: Labour staff only
Registration: please email [email protected] and [email protected]

We have organised an event about housebuilding and environmental concerns about the Planning and Infrastructure Bill.

We will be hearing from the fantastic Emma Clarke, Senior Parliamentary Assistant to Toby Perkins (Chair of Environmental Audit Committee), and previously at Wildlife and Countryside Link (WCL), leading on planning and biodiversity policy. WCL is a coalition of 89 organisations and charities and have concerns about the Bill.

We will then be hearing from Chris Hinchcliff, Labour MP, who put down a number of environmental amendments to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill.

There has been some unease about this Bill from various environmental NGOs and Labour backbenchers, so we thought it would be good to hear concerns and have a discussion.  Please bring your various different viewpoints and angles around this very important issue, and invite your colleagues.
