Standard Notes from the HoC Library

Updated: 3 October 2006

The staff of the House of Commons Library produces a range of Research Papers for the benefit of MPs and staff. They also produce a series of Standard Notes (SNs), which are more flexible and focused briefings.

Papers usually deal with topics of current parliamentary interest. They  aim to be politically impartial and contain factual information as well as a range of opinions on each subject covered.

Research Papers  are all on the Internet along with a few of the Standard Notes, mostly on parliamentary topics. Most of the  Standard Notes, which are more flexible and focused, are not at present on the Internet, though all are available on the Parliamentary intranet, so we are now publishing some of them here. More will be made available over time.
